Almost Back in the Groove

Writer at Work

Got back Sunday from a working vacation to Grand Teton National Park. I am so looking forward to learning more about this wonderful park. The research I did for my upcoming book, The History of Grand Teton National Park, didn’t seem like research at all. Here’s to another working vacation late next Spring!

Today is the final day of our going out of business sale at the Clark Hometown Variety Store. It is so sad to see this store go. I know the community will miss it once it is gone. Just a reminder, we have to make a point of shopping our local stores on a regular business or they will not survive. A lot of people put their heart and soul into trying to bring the customers through the doors and making this store the best it could be. It is such a shame that this was not enough. Our community will have lost a wonderful asset with the doors closing for the final time at 5:00 this afternoon.

So next Monday will be the beginning of a new chapter, no pun intended. I can’t count how many people have asked what we’re going to do once the store closes. I think Val and I both agree that a period of regrouping is in order. My immediate plans are to focus on my writing.  Next week I’ll be getting back to posting regularly on my blogged book, The Closet Entrepreneur. I will also be researching and writing on the Teton book. I think I’m going to try to squeeze NaNoWriMo in there in November. For those of you who are not familiar with NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month, it’s making the commitment during the month of November to write a novel (yes, the whole thing) in one month. Oh, and I think I’ll have to throw some cross-stitch designing in there, as well!

My husband and I have decided that we’re going to give it a go to see if our family can make ends meet on one income. We would both really like for me to be able to be at home for our son. Even though he’s a big, fourth grader now, he told me about a month ago that he really wished I didn’t have to work. This warmed my heart as there is nothing I would like more than to be there for him all of the time. If it doesn’t work out financially, I guess I will be pounding the pavement again.

So I guess it’s on with the show. Here’s looking to what the next bend in the road will bring!
